Dog & Cat Ultrasonography

Ultrasonography allows visualisation of internal organs allowing assessment of structures such as the heart, liver, kidneys, spleen and bladder. We have recently updated our ultrasound machine at Ferring and now have state of the art machines at both our Ferring and East Preston surgeries.

All members of our team are capable of basic ultrasound examinations however we are very fortunate that Rachel Morris is a highly experienced ultrasonographer having completed numerous courses and spent hundreds of hours enhancing her skills and experience. This allows her to perform advanced abdominal ultrasound to look at more difficult to image organs such as the pancreas and the adrenal glands and also to perform full heart scans. With the aid of colour flow doppler on these new machines, we are able to measure blood flow across heart valves and find the cause of heart murmurs. This allows more accurate diagnosis and therefore more appropriate treatment.
